Some of the "light" products are not so easy
The word "light" on the package no longer guarantees that the product is safe in front of you. Why is that? It turns out that the so-called "light" products are sometimes even more calories than usual.

In an effort to catch the eye of consumers watching their weight and health, supermarkets and big brands have spent millions of dollars on the development of products with less fat, sugar or salt, so-called "light" version of the conventional products.

But some of these "light" versions actually contain more fat and calories, and make our wallets thinner, but our waistlines. Already there are "light" versions of chips, salads, pastries, cereals, mayonnaise and sauces, yoghurt drinks - but they are not as low in calories as it seems at first glance.

That edition DailyMail cites the example of chips Walkers Lights, which are positioned as "light." These chips promise 33% less fat than regular potato chips and only 115 calories per 24 grams. Journalists have compared these figures with other chips, stamps Tyrell, who promises no dietary effect. So, in these conventional calorie chips, even lower than in the "light" - only 107 calories per 24 grams.

The same proved and journalists inspected cookies. Cookies Marks & Spencer tea labeled "low fat" contains 40 calories (each piece) and ordinary McVitie's biscuit contains 38 calories / piece. Virtually no difference there.

DailyMail made whole comparison table, where "nines" broken the stereotype of the "light" products. There she is. As you can see, the comparison is clearly not in favor of a "low-calorie" foods.

Why does the label "light" does not always mean "easy"?
According to European regulations, the word "light" may be added to a manufacturer of the products, which produced a reduction of 30 percent or more calories, fat, sugar or salt. However, the catch is that as a guideline as manufacturers take their own products rather than similar products of competitors. It turns out that the reduction in calorie or fat content has been made, but the product remains bold and nutritious because of a single standard against which it would be necessary to make a reduction, - no.

Manufacturers thus tried to explain that it is always on the package are the exact formulation of the products that the customer himself could understand how some products labeled "light" corresponds to his idea of lightness and low calorie.

Well, we really still do not rely on the manufacturer, which often accompanies their products phrases "low fat", "light", "low calorie", and to check the composition and caloric content of their own.
