According to the Minister of Trade Christine Lagarde, the French cosmetics exports increased by 7% in the first half of 2006 and reached 4.3 billion euros. Sales of some cosmetic products grew by more than 10%, topped the list of perfumes (13%).
Perfumes, cosmetics and toiletries are 2% of all the goods exported from France. Trade Specialist notice that by June 2006, France exported more makeup than necessary (trade surplus amounted to a total of more than 3.4 billion euros). "Due to the stable position of the euro in financial markets and increased competition, the French cosmetics manufacturers have to constantly improve the quality and attractiveness of its products," said Lagarde. "We support the producers involved in the creation of new products, dividing them into two competitive areas; Representatives of one of them, "Cosmetic Valley" (located near the town of Chartree) aimed at the production of cosmetics, fragrances and others engaged in perfume (near the town of Grasse), "- the minister added.
