Annette King, a specialist cosmetic brand Dermalogica gives advice on how to care for oily and acne-prone skin in the winter.
Winter - a harsh season for all skin types, this is the time when the dryness and flaking can plague even oily skin. The only solution - to keep the skin moist all season. What does this mean for oily skin and acne-prone?
Annette King explains that the oily skin needs water and moisture, but not necessarily in oils. Thus, when choosing a moisturizer should pay attention to the oil-free formula (marking «oil-free»).
However, for skin prone to acne, it is not enough. It should also be considered to have been a part of the ingredients that prevent the formation of acne. This, for example, salicylic acid (salicylic acid), zinc alginate (zinc alginate) or tea tree extract.
Remember that hydration plays an important role in balancing sebum. The specialist said: the more the skin is dehydrated, the more sebum it will produce. And it provokes new pimples. That is why it is necessary to exclude funds with alcohol - from their skin dries quickly. Some spots are dried at the same time, however, new ones appear just as quickly.
Here, a treatment for oily skin in the winter advises Annette King:
- After washing in the morning, apply a moisturizer (without alcohol, marking «alcohol free»), to clean the skin taut.
- After use light moisturizing serums that are designed to retain moisture in the skin, without clogging the pores.
- And before going out, apply a moisturizer without oil with sunscreen.
To help control the production of skin fat, do not forget about face masks. Annette King advises masks out of clay, but it is better not to use them all over the face, and only in areas where the skin oils are allocated most active (usually the T-zone).
There is another tip from Annette. Moisturize your skin from the inside. Drink plenty of water, reduce the consumption of alcohol and caffeine, which dehydrate the skin. The daily diet should be present vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and fish.
